
HAI celebrates site opening in South Korea
The joint venture between Hammerer Aluminum Industries and LS Cable & System in South Korea is entering its final phase. The opening ceremony for the new production hall of HAI Materials Korea in Gumi, South Korea, took place on May 16, 2025.
Ranshofen (19.05.2025) – Aluminium expert Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI) has invested in a 13,800 square meter production hall with a fully automated extrusion line together with its strategic partner LS Cable & System. The official opening ceremony for the new production site took place on May 15, 2025.

With the official opening, the strategic joint venture between the HAI Group and LS Cable & System enters its final phase. On May 15, 2025, the 13,800 m² production hall in Gumi (South Korea, Gyeongsangbuk-do province) was inaugurated during a festive ceremony. CEO Rob van Gils, COO Dr. Markus Schober and Peter Blatt, Strategic Investment Management, represented the HAI Group at the opening in Gumi. On behalf of LS Cable & System, KOO Bon-Kyu, CEO of LS Cable & System, HONG Young-ho, CEO of LS Materials, LEE Yun sung, CEO of LS Alsco and CHO JeongWoo, CEO of HAIMK were on site as well as other important representatives from business and politics.
“Both LS Cable & System and the HAI Group stand for innovation, quality and sustainable growth. With this strategic partnership, we are combining our strengths and technological expertise to jointly shape and further develop the market for extrusion products in the field of electromobility,” emphasized Rob van Gils in his speech at the opening ceremony in Gumi.
Fully automated 60 MN extrusion line
HAI Materials Korea (HAIMK) will manufacture highly complex aluminum components for the South Korean market at the Gumi site. With an investment volume of around 46 million euros, a state-of-the-art production hall has been built on an area of 13,800 square meters – equipped with a fully automated extrusion line with a pressing force of 60 meganewtons as well as all upstream and downstream systems.
“The fact that the production plant for extremely sophisticated products could be ramped up in an impressively short time fills us with great pride. This speed and quality are a strong indication of the performance of our team and our partners,” says Rob van Gils, emphasizing the positive progress of the project and the potential of the strategic partnership.
