HAI invests 38 million euros in the expansion of the Extrusion at the Ranshofen site

Hammerer Aluminium Industries releases an investment volume of 38 million euros for the expansion of the Extrusion site in Ranshofen. In July 2022 HAI plans to put the heart of the investment package, the 60 MN extrusion press, into operation in Ranshofen, Upper Austria.

Ranshofen (1^st of Juni 2021) – The aluminium expert Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI) sends a strong signal for the Ranshofen site and thus strengthens its pioneering role regarding sustainability and technology. 38 million euros are invested in expanding the capacity of the Extrusion site in Ranshofen. 80 % of this investment sum is assigned to contractors in Austria and Germany.

Establishment as a technology leader

The investment in a highly automated 6,000 ton (60 MN) extrusion press as well as upstream and downstream production plants at the Extrusion site in Ranshofen is necessary due to the great demand for lightweight components in the automotive industry. This is a strategically important step forward and at the same time a strong commitment to the location in Austria.

The HAI group establishes itself as a technology leader for aluminium components in the transport sector at the Ranshofen site. There is an especially high demand for lightweight components for e-mobility. Highly complex aluminium profiles with outstanding crash properties for all well-known OEMs in Europe are produced at the new plant. „This development including the great investment 2021 is very important for our employees in Ranshofen. For the production of high-end profiles, we can bring in our competence in the development of high-strength aluminium crash-resistant alloys and establish our location as a technology leader. Thus, we create future-proof jobs in Upper Austria. 20 new jobs will be created for the operation of the new plant“, highlights CEO Rob van Gils.

Pioneer in sustainability

The ambitious sustainability strategy makes Hammerer Aluminium Industries a pioneer in aluminium lightweight construction. By using 80 % recycled material on average and primary aluminium from certified production with 100 % electricity from renewable energy sources, HAI has become a pioneer in terms of climate protection. With our sustainable alloys SustainAl 2.0 and SustainAl 4.0 we offer a material to our customers with a CO₂ footprint below the European average.

HAI has set the course for the future and looks ahead positively into the next financial years.

Hammerer Aluminium Industries employs 1,800 people. The company was founded in 2007 and has its headquarters in Ranshofen in Upper Austria as well as seven further locations in Germany, Romania and Poland. HAI can look back on a great success story. It combines dynamics and the innovative spirit of a young company with the experience of a traditional business. For 2021 HAI forecasts a turnover of around 520 million euros in the three production areas Casting (foundry), Extrusion and Processing (mechanical further processing).
